Fundamental Voice Study ... for children 12 and under; A basic understanding and appreciation of singing mostly focusing on health and enjoying music.
Professional Voice Training ... for 13 and up; Molding a professional voice with emphasis on health, timbre, style, acting, and building a repertoire book.
Fundamental Piano Study ... for all ages; A beginner piano class.
Jazz Piano Study ... for all ages (prior piano experience required); An understanding of chords and theory strengthening the ear and ability to ad-lib on the piano.
Rate (per class)
$35 / half hour lesson (for 1 to 2 lessons a month)
$30 / half hour lesson (for 3+ lessons a month)
$50 / one hour lesson (for 1 to 2 lessons a month)

A Note on Voice ...
Contrary to popular belief, the very specific style of musical theatre is its own unique study and to sing properly requires more than simply adjusting vowels. Joel's understanding of this comes from years of professional training, both academic and industry based. While healthy singing is the foundation of all styles, musical theatre quickly branches out in a different direction focusing on a unique approach to timbre, tone, placement, dynamics, vibrato, articulation, and yes - vowels. Joel's approach is actor-based and covers vocal technique, breathing, expanding the range, building a repertoire book, understanding the style, and the ever important "acting while singing."
